BIX Infrastructure

BIX is a distributed network
    • BIX consists of 3 PoPs in Budapest, one in Vienna and two fully redundant PoPs in Frankfurt. The PoPs are based on NOKIA 7750 SR switches, that  are distributed in a spine leaf architecture through the most important 3 Data Centres in Hungary, 1 in Vienna and 2 more in Frankfurt. They are interconnected through a redundant optical backbone, nx 400G bandwidths. The sites are: 

      • Budapest, Victor Hugo street Datacenters („BIX building”)

      • Budapest, 2Connect DC10 (former Dataneum)

      • Budapest, T-Systems Cloud and Datacenter (former Dataplex)

      • Vienna Digital Realty (Interxion)

      • Frankfurt Equinix FR5

      • Frankfurt Digital Realty FRA8

    • IPv4 and IPv6 Peering LAN with Route Servers

    • 10G and 100G ports (LR and LR4)

    • VLAN and PNI interconnection between sites

    • Passive wavelength service between Budapest BIX sites

    • BIRD Route Servers (IPv4 + IPv6)

      • Prefix filtering based on RIPE and other RIR DB

      • Support for BGP advertisement manipulations

      • Custom Bird and Cisco-like Looking Glass (self developed)

      • Route server prefixes: 4200 IPv4 and 13500 IPv6 (both list downloadable)
